Hi! I'm a UX Designer & Art Director living in PDX

Etsy

Hello! So nice to meet you, I’m Sara.

I saw the job posting at Etsy and was immediately so excited and inspired. Welcome to your tour of my portfolio that highlights a few projects showing why I am a great addition to the design team at Etsy. For a short time in college, I even had a small Etsy shop trying out selling poster prints. Outside of my day job, I’ve been on a journey to grow my UI and UX skill set. As a part of this, I challenged myself to imagine a better GoodReads app. Several of my friends, including myself, love to read and were constantly complaining about the app...but still continued to use it. I focused on resolving the organization of ‘shelves’ and evolving the design system to be more inclusive and familiar to users. I hope you enjoy walking through my journey of redesigning it here. I’d love to hear feedback or thoughts you might have! I’ve also challenged myself to complete quick design challenges throughout my week to continue building on my Figma proficiency. Most of my design background is branding including brand refreshes and complete overhauls; while at Thrasio, I’ve been immersed in the consumer good space and am most excited about a recent rebrand of a toilet spray. My one claim to design fame was creating the menu for Buffalo Wild Wings including menu design and art direction of a new suite of photography of menu items; unfortunately due to the pandemic and QR code menus, it was a bit short lived.

Outside of work, I love creating. Recently, I’ve been absorbed in sewing! I’ve sewn myself linen pants, new pillow covers and even a baby quilt for a friend. I also enjoy doodling on my iPad and reading. My cat Basil is my constant shadow in all of these activities.

I have successfully worked remotely while at Thrasio with teammates across several time zones, even international. I also love to travel and would love having the opportunity to collaborate in-person and visit the Etsy offices.

Thank you so much for your time,
Sara
